Two women drowned and three people are still missing after a tourist boat capsized in Shahi Bagh Lake in Kalam area of Swat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday evening.
As per Rescue 1122 North Region spokesperson Shafiqa Gul, the accident occurred due to strong winds and rain, which resulted in the boat capsizing.
According to the spokesperson, the bodies of two women have been recovered from the lake and shifted to Kalam Hospital, while five others have been rescued alive and their condition is stable. The injured are being shifted to Matta Hospital and are being provided medical assistance.
The spokesperson said that three tourists were still missing and a rescue operation was underway to rescue them. Teams of divers are trying to recover the bodies. The rescue official said that the operation is being carried out under the supervision of the local administration of Bahrein Tehsil.
Meanwhile, two girls drowned in the Indus River in Torghar, Hazara division’s Kander Kotka tehsil, according to rescue officials.
On the instructions of District Emergency Officer Hayatullah, Rescue 1122 Torghar teams reached the spot along with local volunteers.
The deceased girls include 15-year-old Iman and 20-year-old Amna. Amna’s body was found in Satana area of Haripur district, while an operation is underway to find Iman.
In another incident, five people were killed and three injured in a firing incident between two groups in Hadri Mohmand Khel area of Bannu district, rescue officials said.
