WASHINGTON: In yet another bold assertion during the ongoing war in the Middle East, U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that, under his direction, the U.S. Central Command executed “one of the most powerful bombing raids in the history of the Middle East” against Kharg Island — a critical Iranian military and oil hub — obliterating all military targets while deliberately sparing its oil infrastructure “for reasons of decency”.
Trump just bombed the hell out of Kharg Island, Iran’s most critical oil export hub.
Earlier today, the Pentagon approved the deployment of 3,000 Marines and sailors.
I really, really, really hope this is not preparation for boots on the ground.

Kharg Island is Iran’s primary oil export terminal and one of the most strategically significant energy hubs in the Persian Gulf. It handles the vast majority of Iran’s crude oil exports — often over 90% — making it critical to the country’s economy and global energy markets.
The island, it may be added here, hosts extensive storage facilities, loading docks, and pipelines connecting to mainland refineries, and its location near the Strait of Hormuz places it at the heart of one of the world’s most vital maritime choke-points for oil shipments.
Any disruption to Kharg Island — whether through military action, sabotage, or blockade — could severely impact global oil supply and trigger sharp price volatility because its infrastructure includes large storage tanks, tanker berths, and processing units, all of which make it both a high-value economic asset and a potential military target in regional conflicts.
Releasing the visuals about Kharg island being destroyed in massive bombing, Trump further warned that any interference with the free passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz would prompt him to “immediately reconsider” this restraint, framing the action as part of a broader demonstration of U.S. military supremacy.

He asserted that Iran “has no ability to defend anything” the U.S. chooses to attack and reiterated his long-standing claim that Iran will “never” acquire nuclear weapons or threaten the U.S. or the world.
Although Kharg Island is located very close to the Strait of Hormuz — approximately 150–200 kilometers (90–120 miles) northwest of the strait’s entrance, its proximity makes it strategically tied to the flow of oil through this critical maritime choke-point of Strait of Hormuz. Most of Iran’s oil exports are loaded onto tankers at Kharg Island and then transit the Strait of Hormuz to reach global markets — making the island and the strait mutually vital to Iran’s energy security and global oil supply.
