RAWALPINDI: Police entered a government school and brutally thrashed the headmaster in front of the students.
The incident occurred at the Government Madrasa Millia Islamia High Shool located in Satelite Town area where Tariq Mehmood Bhatti was serving as the senior headmaster.
Police entered his office and after a verbal altercation, starting thrashing him mercilessly. The police then dragged the headmaster into a car and took him to the police station where he was kept in custody for over eleven hours.
Interestingly, the case under which Tariq Mehmood Bhatti was picked up does not mention his name. Police were on the lookout after a First Information Report (FIR) was registered but the headmaster was not even nominated.
The complainant who filed the case gave a confessional statement that Tariq Mehmood Bhatti has no connection with the case. The incident sent shockwaves among the seminary’s students over the treatment of their teachers.
Headmaster Tariq Mehmood Bhatti has appealed higher authorities to take action against police high-handedness. He said the educational institute was being victimised by the police.
He called for an inquiry into the matter. The teacher’s association has threatened to strike if justice is not provided in the incident.
