Sadiqabad police on Sunday gunned down the most wanted Kacha dacoit Meera Kosh during an intelligence-based operation.
According to the police spokesperson, the eliminated dacoit was a prime suspect in the martyrdom of 12 police officers last year and had been on the most wanted list.
The police launched the operation in the same region where dacoits had previously carried out a cowardly attack on police personnel.
The operation teams raided criminal hideouts, forcing the dacoits to flee towards Sindh. After a thorough search, police set fire to their hideouts, ensuring they could not regroup.
Heavy exchange of gunfire between police and criminals continued, as armored vehicles pursued the fleeing dacoits.
Before the operation, DPO Rizwan Umar Gondal provided detailed intelligence briefings to the participating police teams, emphasising the high-risk nature of the mission.
The ongoing police operation is being conducted in Kacha Machhka, a border area near Sindh, targeting those responsible for last year’s attack on police officers.
