PM under fire for meeting Turkish producers instead of Hazara protesters

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has faced massive criticism for meeting the team members of the famous Turkish drama series ‘Ertugrul’ instead of meeting victim families of the Mach massacre in Quetta.

Several protesters have blocked Quetta’s key western bypass since Sunday after 11 coalminers belonging to the Hazara community were brutally executed by terrorists. The protesters and the victim family of the massacre, in this regard, demanded that the premier personally meets them.

However, PM Imran Khan instead of meeting the victim’s family decided to meet the founding team of ‘Ertugrul’ in Islamabad. The serial broke viewership records in Pakistan in 2020.

Along with the prime minister, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Shibli Faraz, and Kashmir Committee Chairperson Shehryar Afridi also met the Turkish team. During the meeting, the details of the proposed television series being created in collaboration between Pakistan and Turkey were discussed.
