Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said in his Twitter message yesterday said he arrived in New York a few hours ago, and will share the story of flood-affected Pakistan in front of the whole world so that the international community can understand what issues need urgent attention in Pakistan.
From the Twitter message, it seems that the Prime Minister has come to the United States to get help from the international community for the flood victims and on September 23, the Prime Minister will present Pakistan’s case to the international community at the United Nations General Assembly meeting.
On the same day, the Prime Minister thanked the President of Occupied Palestine Mahmood Abbas for sending the Rapid Response and Rescue Team to help the flood victims in Pakistan. Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb also informed that the photographs are being exhibited in the United Nations.
Federal Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said that at the United Nations, the Ministry of Information has organized a photo exhibition on the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in which the situation caused by floods in Pakistan has been highlighted.
On the one hand, tons of aid is coming from foreign countries for the flood victims in Pakistan and the flood victims are still waiting for help under the open sky. The government says that the money of flood victims in the Benazir Income Support Program has been looted by hackers.
After the disclosure of money hacking, the head of Benazir Income Support Program, Shazia Atta Mari, issued orders to FIA to investigate, but the public reaction on social media was quite surprising.
Undoubtedly, floods have caused massive destruction in Pakistan. 1 thousand 545 people died while more than 12 thousand were injured. The infrastructure of the health system across the country was severely affected. A total of 1625 health centers were damaged. The loss is estimated to be more than 65 billion.
According to the National Disaster Management Authority, more or less 33 million people were affected by the floods in Pakistan, while more than 65 thousand cases of epidemic diseases were reported in 1 day in the flooded areas.
In fact, the flood water has not yet been removed from the residential areas and it is standing in places, causing an increase in diseases due to the breeding of mosquitoes and sewage. After the loss of lives caused by the floods in Pakistan, another human tragedy is unfolding which may be more tragic than imaginable.
Be it a visit to the US or appeals for aid from the international community, all of this will not be effective until the government establishes a reasonable system for the clear, transparent and speedy delivery of aid to the flood victims. The rulers have to work to solve all these problems.
