ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz has said that Prime Minister Imran Khan is determined to restore the actual identity of Karachi as an industrial metropolis.

On a social media website Twitter, the minister said, “Karachi is the backbone of the country in economical level, and its issues are whole country’s problems”.

Shibli Faraz further said, “We cannot leave the people of Karachi at the mercy of the Sindh government that has destroyed the infrastructure of the metropolis during their 12-year long rule.”

Later, talking to a private news channel Faraz said that the current government, under the dynamic leadership of PM Imran, is making the decisions in the larger national interest which are fully supported by military leadership.

The minister said that both the civil and military leadership are on the same page but some undemocratic elements are unhappy over the cohesion.

He said that the main responsibility of opposition is to have positive criticism on the government’s policies, but the PPP and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders are only demanding NROs to escape from accountability.

Faraz said, “Karachi is the economic hub of the country, the development of Karachi is the guarantor of the country’s development.” He also vowed that the people of Karachi would not be abandoned by the PTI-led federal government.

“The steps taken by Prime Minister Imran Khan for the development of Karachi and solution of its problems are commendable,” he added.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Imran Khan announced a ‘historic’ relief package worth Rs1.1 trillion for development projects in Karachi, saying that the package will address the chronic municipal and infrastructure issues of the country’s financial hub.
