The meeting came after Debbie Abrahams on Monday was denied by the Indian government to not visit Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK).
Earlier on Wednesday, while addressing a media briefing along with Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, she said that the purpose of the group’s planned visit to Azad Jammu and Kashmir and IoK was to review human rights situation there.
She said that Islamabad extended all-out cooperation to the UK Parliamentary Group for visiting Azad Kashmir, but New Delhi did not allow the group to visit Occupied Kashmir.
On 17th February, Abrahams and her aide Harpreet Upal arrived at the airport in India from Dubai in the morning. After presenting her documents, an official “looked at his screen and started shaking his head”, Abrahams said in a statement. The official informed her the visa was rejected and left the desk for 10 minutes, she said. “When he came back, he was very rude and aggressive.”
