Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is set to resume flights between Islamabad and Chitral after nearly three years, starting April 5. Initially, the service will operate once a week.
An official from PIA’s district sales office confirmed that the ATR-72 flight is scheduled to arrive at Chitral Airport at 10 a.m. on April 5, with a return flight to Islamabad two hours later.
However, the decision to offer only a weekly flight has sparked dissatisfaction among Chitral residents, who have called for daily flights to meet the growing demand.
In a statement released Tuesday, he pointed out that this route had been operational on a daily basis until 2010, but the frequency was reduced to four flights a week, leading to the service’s eventual decline.
Meanwhile on Tuesday, the Privatization Commission proposed a transaction structure to the Cabinet Committee on Privatization for a second attempt at divesting 51% to 100% of Pakistan International Airlines Company Ltd (PIACL)’s share capital.

The proposed plan includes transferring management control of the national airline alongside the divested equity. The final terms and conditions for the transfer and acquisition will be determined during the bidding process and outlined in the bid documents, subject to approval by the Cabinet Committee on Privatization.
