A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight bound for Lahore was forced to make an emergency landing at Dammam International Airport in Saudi Arabia shortly after takeoff on Thursday morning.
According to reports, flight PK-244 departed from Dammam but encountered a technical glitch in its communication system shortly after becoming airborne. The pilot immediately contacted air traffic control and requested permission to return for an emergency landing.
A PIA spokesperson confirmed the issue, stating that the flight had to land as a precaution due to the communication system malfunction. Engineers inspected the aircraft and found no faults. “The flight has since departed and is expected to land in Lahore within an hour,” the spokesperson added.
In related news, PIA recently resumed direct flights to Paris after a four-year suspension due to security concerns, marking a significant step in the national carrier’s efforts to expand its international operations.
