Pakistan’s Test fast bowler, Mir Hamza, has been injured while fielding during a match. He sustained an injury to his elbow and had to leave the ground.
Mir Hamza, the 32-year-old left-arm fast bowler, was playing for Ghani Glass against Aishal Associates in the President’s Trophy Grade One Cricket Tournament. The incident occurred on the second day of the match at the HPC Oval Ground, where Hamza injured his elbow while diving to take a catch.
According to a report by Geo News, the coach of Ghani Glass, Test wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal, expressed regret over the injury, calling it an unfortunate situation. He pointed out that there was no grass on the outfield, and players would inevitably get hurt while diving on the dirt.
A few days ago, Mohammad Hafeez, the coach of Sui Southern Gas, also criticized the arrangements of the President’s Cup, particularly questioning the ground conditions, which led to strong criticism of the PCB. Mir Hamza has been selected by Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 Draft in the ‘Silver’ category.
Mir Hamza has been an essential bowler for Pakistan, especially in Test cricket. His consistent performance and ability to bowl long spells have made him a key asset for the team. Pakistan heavily relies on his experience and skill in Test matches, where his role as a fast bowler is pivotal in challenging conditions.
