ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Sunday received 500,000 doses of the Sinovac vaccine from China, according to a statement issued by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).
The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) in a statement said Pakistan International Airlines (PIA)’s special flight PK 6852 has transported a batch of 500,000 doses of Sinovac vaccine from the Beijing Capital International Airport to Islamabad.
Om May 24, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA)’s special flight PK6853 had airlifted another batch of two millions doses of Sinovac vaccine from the Beijing Capital International Airport to Islamabad on Sunday.
Earlier, a special flight PK 6852 had also transported a consignment of one million doses of Sinovac vaccine procured from China to fight the ongoing wave of the COVID-19 pandemic in Pakistan, said Qadir Bux Sangi, PIA Country Manager for China.
The Chinese authorities have pledged to continue the uninterrupted supply of vaccines to help Pakistan defeat the deadly virus. Pakistan has so far received over 13 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines comprising of Sinopharm, Sinovac and CanSino procured from China including others through the COVAX programme.
Currently, Pakistan is facing a third wave of COVID-19 pandemic while the relevant authorities continue to tightening the anti-pandemic measures and facilitating the vaccination drive.
According to an official, the vaccination for the 30-39 age group started on Saturday and would continue for an indefinite period. Pakistan has already been vaccinating people aged 40 and above across the country.
According to the NCOC, the country has administered 4,956,853 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine till date, with 1,193,441 people fully inoculated.
It may be mentioned that Pakistan began a vaccination drive in March with over a million doses of Sinopharm vaccines donated by China. Islamabad received the first COVID-19 vaccine consignment after a military aircraft transported it from Beijing on February 1, this year.
Pakistan sees new record vaccination in a single
Pakistan set a new record of most vaccinations in a day on Saturday after nearly 400,000 people received COVID-19 jabs. This was stated by Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar, who hold National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) overseeing the efforts against the coronavirus.
In a statement on Twitter, Asad Umar said that over 383,000 people received COVID jabs on Saturday, setting a new record of most vaccinations in a day.
“So far seven million people have been vaccinated in the country,” he said, adding that the number of people getting registered for the vaccination is also increasing day by day. He said that so far 11.6 million people have registered themselves to receive COVID jabs.

According to NCOC, more than 6.130 million doses have been administered so far. More than 1.513 million have been full vaccinated, while 3.180 have received partial doses
Vaccination for 30 plus from tomorrow
The increase in the number of people getting vaccinated has been witnessed after the NCOC allowed walk-in vaccination for citizens above 30 years of age.
“In the NCOC meeting today it was decided to open up walk-in vaccination for 30 plus from tomorrow,” Planning and Development Minister Asad Umar had said. He urged citizens aged above thirty to visit a vaccination centre and get themselves vaccinated.
The government has also started registering citizens aged 19 and above for vaccination against COVID-19. People aged between 19 to 30 years can register themselves by sending their CNIC number to 1166.
The government decided to open vaccine registration for all people having Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs) which is approved by health experts for COVID-19 vaccination.
Pakistan reports 56 deaths in the last 24 hours
On the other hand, Pakistan has reported 56 deaths in the last 24 hours by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 918,936. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 20,736.
According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 2,697 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours.
Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths and cases followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Till now 9,982 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab 5,014 in Sindh, 4,060 in KP, 757 in Islamabad, 540 in Azad Kashmir, 276 in Balochistan, and 107 in GB.
