A severe fuel crisis has gripped Balochistan, with petrol and diesel being sold at prices as high as Rs500 per litre in several districts, officials and dealers said.
In Quetta and surrounding areas, fuel shortages have forced the closure of multiple petrol pumps, while operational stations are witnessing long queues of vehicles as citizens struggle to secure fuel. The shortage has also led to public distress, with reports of severe congestion and inconvenience.
The crisis has intensified in interior regions including Noshki, Kharan, and Loralai, where petrol prices have reportedly surged to Rs500 per litre due to limited supply.
According to the Petroleum Dealers Association, supply from Shikarpur has been increased in an effort to ease the shortage, and officials expect the situation to improve within the next one to two days.
Deputy Commissioner Quetta stated that the disruption in Iranian fuel supply has contributed to the worsening shortage and increased pressure on local petrol pumps. He added that around 600,000 litres of petrol were supplied to Quetta today to help manage demand.
Authorities have assured that efforts are underway to stabilize fuel distribution and normalize the situation across the province.
