Pakistani creators set to benefit from new Facebook monetisation rules

Facebook has introduced significant changes to its monetisation system, making it easier for content creators in Pakistan to qualify for earnings.

The move is expected to improve opportunities for users in Pakistan and several other countries to generate income in US dollars through the platform.

Facebook remains one of the world’s most popular social media platforms, serving not only as a source of entertainment and information but also as an important income stream for a growing number of users.

Many content creators, vloggers and freelancers already benefit from Facebook’s monetisation features, earning substantial monthly income and making the platform a key part of their professional activities.

Previously, Facebook’s monetisation programmes required creators to meet strict eligibility criteria. Typically, users needed at least 10,000 followers, significant watch-time figures and other performance targets before they could qualify, making monetisation difficult for newer creators and those with smaller audiences.

Under the latest update, access to monetisation tools has reportedly become more achievable for some Facebook pages and accounts. According to the new criteria, a page that generates 300,000 views within a 28-day period may become eligible for content monetisation.

Digital media experts say that achieving 300,000 views in 28 days is considerably more attainable than previous requirements, particularly for creators who regularly publish videos, reels and engaging content. They believe that high-quality, short-form videos can help creators reach the target more quickly.

Experts have also stressed that reaching the required number of views alone may not be sufficient. Creators must continue to comply fully with Facebook’s community guidelines, content policies and monetisation rules. Failure to follow these requirements could result in a monetisation application being rejected or earnings being restricted.

Social media specialists believe that if the new eligibility standard is implemented on a wider scale, thousands of new content creators in Pakistan could benefit, leading to a significant increase in online earning opportunities.

However, monetisation requirements on Facebook can vary depending on the account, region and specific programme. Users are therefore advised to carefully review the eligibility criteria and conditions listed in their Professional Dashboard or Monetisation section before applying.
