Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi, is expected to meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif today regarding the issue of whether to play against India in the International Cricket Council (ICC) T20 World Cup.

According to sources, Mohsin Naqvi will brief the Prime Minister on his recent meeting with the ICC delegation. Sources further state that the final decision regarding participation in the match will be made by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

It is worth noting that an ICC delegation arrived in Lahore on Sunday to meet Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi with a specific request for Pakistan to play against India.

Sources added that negotiations will only be successful if the “excesses” or injustices regarding Bangladesh are redressed; the decision of whether Pakistan plays India or not will be addressed subsequently.

Sources also suggested that the final decision regarding the highly anticipated match between Pakistan and India in the ICC T20 World Cup is expected to be made on February 12.

ICC had initially given Pakistan a deadline of Monday, February 9. However, sources indicate that no major breakthrough is expected today, Monday, and the official stance will likely be finalized by February 12.

The final authority to decide whether the team takes the field against India rests with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
