TEHRAN: Explosions rocked areas near the Embassy of Pakistan and the residence of Ambassador Muddasir Tipu in Tehran on Thursday night, following Israeli airstrikes in the Iranian capital, according to a report by Turkiye Today.
The strikes occurred amid heightened regional tensions and as Pakistan, alongside Türkiye and Egypt, intensifies shuttle diplomacy efforts to broker a ceasefire between the United States and Iran.
Sources confirmed that the bombardment, which began around 8:00 PM local time, targeted zones in proximity to diplomatic compounds but caused no damage to the embassy or the ambassador’s residence. All 20 Pakistani diplomatic staff members, including Ambassador Tipu, remained unharmed and continue to carry out their duties. No official statement has been issued by Pakistan’s Foreign Office as yet.
It is interesting to note that the incident coincides with growing international recognition of Pakistan’s behind-the-scenes mediation role in the Middle East crisis.
While the strikes appear to have been aimed at Iranian military or strategic sites, their proximity to diplomatic missions has raised concerns over the safety of foreign personnel in Tehran, now in its 27th day of sustained aerial bombardment.
