RAWALPINDI: The series between South Africa and Pakistan has been causing serious difficulties to the citizens of twin cities Rawalpindi and Islamabad, especially those living in adjoining areas of Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
“As the spectators would not be allowed inside the stadium anyway, then why was there so much security around the Stadium,” they asked. The second test match will be played at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from February 4.
A citizen said that he remained stuck in traffic for over two to three hours after leaving his workplace. “What is the point of these matches when the common man suffers the most because of them?” he asked.
They said that whenever international cricket comes to the city, they are the ones who suffer the most. The citizens have demanded that the security be restricted to inside the stadium premises only.
According to the traffic plan issued by Rawalpindi City Traffic Police (CTP), Double Road would remain be closed during practice session and test cricket match in Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
The traffic coming from Rawal Dam, Islamabad towards Rawalpindi would be diverted to Expressway. The traffic would be allowed to enter Rawalpindi via Dhoke Kala Khan, Khanna and Korali.
The traffic from Rawalpindi to Islamabad would take U-turn in front of the Kidney Centre and use opposite side to enter Islamabad. The traffic coming from IJP Road and 9th Avenue Chowk towards Rawalpindi would take Pindora Chungi, Katarian, Carriage Factory, Pir Wadhai route to enter Rawalpindi.
