CHAMAN: A Jawan of Frontier Corps lost life after coming under gunfire attack from across Afghan border last evening. Chaman in Balochistan province is the most important border point for trade between the two countries, after Torkham in the country’s mountainous northwest.
According to information gathered by multiple sources, Pak-Afghan border at Chaman was closed indefinitely after gunmen from the Afghan side opened fire on Pakistani security personnel at Friendship Gate, resulting in the martyrdom of one soldier and leaving two others wounded on Sunday.
CCTV footages of the incident surfaced hours later, showing the gruesome incident of firing by an armed man on FC personnel deployed at Chaman border office.

Imran Ahmed Khan, who has served as an official with the local chamber of commerce in recent years, said he attended the funeral of the soldier killed in the cross-border shooting.
Attaullah Zaid, spokesman for the governor of Afghanistan’s neighbouring province of Kandahar, confirmed the incident but said there were no casualties on the Afghan side.
However, Pakistani officials claimed five personnel from the Afghan side were killed and 14 others were injured in the gun battle. Seven of the injured were shifted to Kandahar hospital, according to the reports pouring in from across the Afghan border.
Soon after the incident, Chaman Deputy Commissioner Abdul Hameed Zehri said: “A man crossed into Pakistani side at Friendship Gate from the Afghan border and opened fire at the security personnel posted at the gate, resulting in the martyrdom of one soldier and injuring two others.”
