LAHORE: The Punjab government has launched the ‘Punjab Chief Minister International Scholarship Program’ to assist talented students from the province in pursuing higher education.
Recently unveiled, this initiative aims to facilitate deserving individuals in obtaining master’s and PhD degrees from esteemed universities globally.
Officials have stated that Rs26 billion will be allocated to the program, which will offer scholarships for students interested in pursuing master’s and PhDs at leading international universities.
The program is set to commence formally in the upcoming financial year, with an allocation of Rs5 billion in the budget.
In March, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif held discussions with United States Consul General Kristin K. Hawkins regarding increasing scholarship opportunities for Pakistani students in US higher education institutions.
During a briefing, the CM was informed that campuses of renowned international universities would be established in Lahore’s Education City to cater to students from across Pakistan. The CM requested a comprehensive plan in this regard, to be presented promptly after consultation with university managements.
