ISLAMABAD: Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Shabbar Zaidi has said that the number of income tax filers in the country has exceeded to 2.5 million.
Talking to the media, Shabbar Zaidi said that FBR was simplifying the process of filing income tax declaration and a software has also been launched for its monitoring.
He said that the software would determine sales tax and federal excise duty on taxpayers, while the sales tax declaration form has been simplified and limited to one page.
Shabbar Zaidi said that FBR was trying to come up with a centralized system that would show how much money was being transferred.
According to Shabbar Zaidi, the National Identity Card condition is present but the process has been postponed till September, and notices have been issued to doctors, engineers, and educational institutions to raise the tax net.
Zaidi clarified that whatever sector generates income in the country, taxes will have to be paid. He further said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has given strict orders for the search of anonymous assets but it is impossible to acquire whole possessions.
He said that anonymous assets have yet to be revealed and court proceedings will be expedited.
