No one is safe

Raising an alarm for the world, Secretary-General of the United States Antonio-Guterres has said that in the fight against coronavirus, no one is safe until everyone is safe. Antonio-Guterres reiterated that diagnostics, treatment, and vaccines of the deadly virus must be accessible to all – including refugees, migrants, and displaced people.
The novel Corona Virus, which appeared in the Chinese city of Wuhan, has so far infected 6.5 million people globally. COVID-19 continues to devastate lives and livelihoods around the globe. Pakistan is also rapidly rising in the list of countries most affected by the coronavirus.
Despite the growing Corona crisis in Pakistan, the ruling party and the opposition are ignoring this national issue by stirring up differences. PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto has blamed the PTI-led federal government for the spread of coronavirus and accused the Centre of sabotaging the Sindh government’s efforts to contain the outbreak. On the other side, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that lockdown in developing countries proved disastrous.
The number of cases of coronavirus in Pakistan is increasing rapidly and after the easing of lockdown, 4 to 5 thousand cases are coming up daily and the death rate has also increased. Hospitals in other parts of the country, including Karachi, have run out of space for corona patients, making the situation extremely dangerous.
Even the developed countries of the world have so far failed to control this pandemic. In Pakistan, where the health and sanitation system is very pitiable, an increasing number of coronavirus cases can’t be stopped.
Currently, the federal and the provincial governments should put aside their differences and formulate a coordinated strategy for the nation, through which the wheel of the country’s economy could run smoothly and the lives of the people could be saved. Since it is a national issue and as long as there is a single infected patient, no one can feel safe from the deadly disease.
