WhatsApp accounts have been linked to users’ phone numbers so far. However, many social media users do not like this and want username support similar to Facebook and Twitter, preparations for which have now begun.
According to details, Meta is preparing to introduce username support for WhatsApp users, after which a wave of happiness spread among social media users.
A report revealed that WhatsApp has been working on the username feature for quite some time. However, it is not yet available even in the beta version. Still, after the company developed a username reservation system, expectations for the feature’s launch have increased.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, the company has taken another step towards providing username support to users. A new link is now being added in WhatsApp settings, through which users will be able to reserve their username even before the feature officially launches.
It is noteworthy that Meta has not yet officially confirmed this feature. Once the username feature is introduced, users will be able to use WhatsApp without sharing their phone numbers.
According to earlier reports, once a user creates a username, their phone number will remain hidden from others, making user security stronger.
When this feature is fully introduced, it will completely transform WhatsApp chats. With it, every user will be able to create a username and use it to connect with friends, family, and contacts.
