WhatsApp has just rolled out a new feature that automatically replaces blank profile icons with images saved in your phone’s contacts, making it easier to identify chats when someone hasn’t set a display picture.
This update is part of a broader set of improvements, including multi-account support, AI-powered photo editing, and smarter suggested replies.
If a user hasn’t set a display picture (DP), WhatsApp will now show the image saved in your phone’s contacts instead of the generic silhouette. This makes chat navigation more intuitive.
Users can now seamlessly switch between multiple WhatsApp accounts on the same device, a long-requested feature especially useful for balancing work and personal life.
Meanwhile, moving chat history from iOS to Android (and vice versa) is now possible without cables, making device switching smoother.
However, using contact images may raise questions about how much personal data is synced between WhatsApp and your phone’s contacts.
It is worth mentioning that for users in Pakistan and globally, WhatsApp is more than just a messaging app, it’s central to family communication, business deals, and social groups.
