LAHORE: Under the Punjab government’s Chief Minister’s Bike Scheme 2026, male and female students will be provided interest-free financing and government subsidies to purchase electric bikes, along with several free facilities.
Under the programme, eligible students will receive interest-free financing for the purchase of electric bikes, which can be repaid through affordable monthly instalments.
Students enrolled in eligible public and private educational institutions across Punjab can apply for the scheme. Applicants must be at least 16 years old and hold a valid driving licence or learner’s permit, along with a valid Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC).
Parents or legal guardians can act as guarantors for applicants. However, the mobile number provided in the application must be registered in the name of the guarantor.
Students can submit their applications online for the scheme until October 4, 2026. Applications can be submitted through the official scheme portal.
The electric bikes provided under the scheme will feature a 72-volt, 30-ampere-hour battery and a 1,000-watt motor. The bikes will have a maximum speed of approximately 50 to 55 kilometres per hour.
Free scooter-riding training will also be provided to students participating in the scheme. Five training centres have been designated for this purpose: Absher Driving School, Liberty Khidmat Markaz, Greater Iqbal Park, Traffic Police Lines Manawan, and LOS Ferozepur Road.
Students seeking scooter-riding training are required to bring their CNIC with them. Lahore Traffic Police has also established dedicated counters at these centres to facilitate students in obtaining scooter driving licences.
In addition, students participating in the programme will receive free helmets and other safety equipment to ensure greater safety while riding the scooters.
