The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a statement forecasting heavy rainfall in Karachi starting from April 18. Anticipated areas for heavy rainfall include the western, northwestern, and southern regions of the city, encompassing Surjani Town, Baldia, Liaquatabad, Orangi Town, Kiamari, DHA, Saddar, and Clifton.
Currently, the temperature in Karachi stands at 33 degrees Celsius, with humidity levels at 80 percent, expected to rise to 60 percent by evening. A western winds system, previously traversing Balochistan, is expected to enter Karachi this evening. With increased wind intensity, there is a potential for thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds.
The onset of heavy rainfall is also expected in neighboring areas of Sindh and Balochistan. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert, warning of possible river flooding as winds enter Balochistan, resulting in rainfall in various areas, including Gwadar.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), recent rainfall has led to 32 reported deaths in various incidents. Among the deceased, there are 15 children and 5 women, with 41 individuals reported injured, including 6 women, 28 men, and 7 children.
Heavy rainfall persists in border areas such as Taftan, Nok Kundi, and Dalbandin, situated along the Pakistan-Iran and Pakistan-Afghanistan borders. In Gwadar, the combination of strong winds and torrential rainfall has submerged low-lying areas, raising concerns about potential damage to boats.
According to the PMD, rainfall has also been recorded in other areas, including Quetta, Kech, Awaran, Chagai, Khuzdar, Pasni, Mardan, Lasbela, Qalat, Noshki, Jhal Magsi, Nasirabad, Sabi, Kohlu, Dera Bugti, Loralai, Harnai, Ziarat, Chaman, and Qila Saifullah.
