New Karachi becomes new hub of illegal constructions
KARACHI: After Nazimabad, Liaquatabad, and Gulberg, New Karachi has become the hub of illegal constructions, while the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) has remained a silent spectator.
According to details, officers of all concerned agencies including the building authority are receiving huge bribes for allowing illegal constructions.
Illegal construction of the second floor in Plot No. L80, Sector 11E Muslim Town in New Karachi is underway. The illegal second floor has also been constructed at The National School in Muslim Town Sector 11E in Nagan Chowrangi. An illegal cooking center is also being set up in Scheme 41, Sector 11H by merging the residential flat with the shop.
Similarly, an illegal bank is being constructed in Scheme 32, Sector 11H under the patronage of SBCA officials, named Najeeb and Ali Mehdi Kazmi. Many other officials of the concerned authorities are allegedly involved in the patronage of illegal constructions.
Illegal construction and encroachments have also been underway in Jamshed Town area. SBCA Deputy Director Ali Asad had allowed illegal construction and approved the map on Plot No. 11/2 located in the famous Soldier Bazaar after allegedly receiving hefty underhand payments from a builder named Umair who has started booking on the flats being sold between Rs3-5 million.
The building’s design is in violation of the bylaws as a 16-foot cover has been built while a 5-foot long canopy has been protruding over the street. Two flats have already been constructed flouting all relevant rules and regulations.
