KARACHI: A key ally of the federal government, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), has condemned the arrest of senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Fawad Chaudhry.
Talking to newsmen the other day, MQM-P leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui recalled that PTI leaders used to call Karachiites, who were arrested on various occasions, as terrorists. He expressed hope that now the PTI leader would have realized the sufferings of the detention.
Responding to a question, the MQM-P leader said his party had boycotted from Local Government elections in Karachi and Hyderabad over ‘violation of political rights’. “The decision to contest by-polls over National Assembly seats would be taken by the Rabta (Coordination) Committee,” he added.
Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, when asked to comment on Babar Ghauri’s return, said he was returning to Pakistan to attend his mother who had been suffering from illness. He further said that his party’s doors were open for the former leader.
