KARACHI: Dr. Osama Sheikh, who conducted the initial post-mortem examination of Karachi-based young businessman Mir Raza, has been removed from his position as a medico-legal officer.
Dr. Osama Sheikh has also been directed to appear before the inquiry team. Officials said the doctor committed serious errors during the post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, geo-fencing has been carried out at the crime scene as part of the investigation into Mir Raza’s murder. However, investigative authorities are facing difficulties in obtaining accurate geo-fencing data due to mobile phone towers installed in hilly areas.
Investigators said the geo-fencing exercise has produced locations from different blocks of Gulistan-e-Johar, resulting in a large number of mobile phone numbers that need to be examined.
The investigation team also searched an area within a 500-metre radius of the crime scene and collected various pieces of evidence.
The newly formed committee has obtained data from the victim’s smartwatch, while efforts are underway to retrieve additional information that could assist investigators in determining the circumstances surrounding the murder.
