Sameer Minhas delivered a monumental innings, hammering a superb 172 to power Pakistan to a commanding 347/8 against arch-rivals India in the final of the ACC Men’s U19 Asia Cup 2025 at the ICC Academy on Sunday.
His knock was well supported by Ahmed Hussain, who struck a composed half-century as Pakistan made full use of favorable batting conditions after India elected to field.
Pakistan’s innings began steadily, with Minhas and Hamza Zahoor adding 31 runs before Zahoor departed early. Minhas then steadied the ship alongside Usman Khan, and the pair stitched together a fluent 92-run partnership that firmly swung momentum Pakistan’s way. Usman contributed a valuable 35 before falling in the 17th over, but Minhas continued to dominate the attack.
The right-hander found an ideal partner in Ahmed Hussain, and their blistering 137-run stand for the third wicket put India under sustained pressure. Ahmed scored 56 off 73 balls, while Minhas accelerated relentlessly, peppering the boundary with authority.

He later added useful runs with captain Farhan Yousaf before finally being dismissed for 172 off 113 deliveries, an innings featuring 17 fours and nine sixes.
A brief late collapse slowed Pakistan’s charge, but unbeaten cameos from Mohammad Sayyam and Niqab Shafiq ensured a formidable total. For India, Deepesh Devendran claimed three wickets despite conceding runs.
Off the field, the high-stakes final was marked by a noticeable lack of pre-match handshakes, underscoring the intensity of the rivalry.
