A fire broke out at a warehouse in Sherpao Colony, Landhi, on Tuesday, prompting an immediate response from the fire brigade.
Fire tenders were dispatched to the site soon after the incident was reported, and firefighters began efforts to control the blaze and stop it from spreading to nearby buildings.
No casualties have been reported from the warehouse fire so far, while the cause of the incident is yet to be ascertained.
Meanwhile, another fire incident was reported in the Khokhrapar area of Malir, where a blaze erupted inside a house being used as a school.
According to officials, the fire inside the house was still raging, and rescue operations were underway to safely evacuate the family trapped inside. Police said a school was operating on the ground floor, while a family was residing on the upper portion of the house.
Media reports said that five to eight people were present at the time of the incident, and two children sustained burn injuries. The injured children were shifted to a hospital for medical treatment, while firefighters continued efforts to bring the fire under control.
The incidents come days after the recent Gul Plaza fire in Karachi’s Saddar area, where a major blaze caused extensive damage and reignited concerns over fire safety standards. Repeated fire outbreaks have underscored the urgent need for stricter enforcement of safety regulations in warehouses, commercial buildings and residential properties being used for multiple purposes.
