In a gruesome incident in KP’s Mansehra, a man allegedly stoned his wife to death in Manoor Valley of Balakot tehsil and staged her death as an accidental fall from a mountain, officials said on Sunday.
Police said they arrested the accused and produced him before a Balakot court, which sent him on judicial remand after his alleged confession.
As per police, the victim had eloped and married the suspect about 10 months ago. Police said the accused took his wife to a mountainous area in Manoor Valley in Kaghan on August 12, ostensibly for a recreational trip, where he allegedly stoned her to death.
After her death, the suspect allegedly threw her body into a ditch to make it appear that she had fallen from a nearby mountain. Police initially suspected foul play because the circumstances of her death appeared suspicious.

According to the police, the accused also completed the burial rituals soon after the incident in an attempt to conceal the alleged crime, but investigators traced and arrested him.
The victim’s brother said in the FIR that she had married the suspect against her family’s wishes. He alleged that the suspect had recently married his former fiancée and killed his sister to get rid of her.
