A district council employee was allegedly abducted and tortured by a landlord and his five accomplices during a stray dog culling operation in Chak 72/4-R, with police rescuing the worker and arresting three suspects.
Fateh Sher police registered a case under Sections 186, 342, 353, 506, 149, 379 and 148 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) on the complaint of District Council Enforcement Inspector Muhammad Ziarat.
According to local media reports citing police sources, district council worker Fida Hussain was culling stray dogs and had killed two animals in the village when landlord Shamoon Jatoi, along with Abid Ali Bhatti, Bilal Baloch, Majid and two unidentified armed men, confronted him.
The suspects reportedly objected to the culling, calling it an act of cruelty against animals.
Following a heated argument, they allegedly abducted Hussain, took him to their outhouse, locked him in a room, subjected him to torture and snatched his mobile phone.
Witnessing the incident, some locals alerted police through the 15 emergency helpline.
A police team subsequently raided the outhouse, rescued Hussain and arrested three of the suspects, while the others managed to escape.
