Young kite flyers across rooftops in different parts of Lahore erupted in celebration after the Maryam Nawaz-led Punjab government extended the timings for Basant festivities.
According to details, on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the provincial government has extended Basant celebrations until 5:00am tomorrow.
The announcement was made by the Chief Minister through a message posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
In her message, Maryam Nawaz said that witnessing the grand Basant celebrations, scenes of joy, unity and happiness across Lahore, Punjab and the rest of Pakistan — returning after 25 years — it gives her great pleasure to announce the extension of Basant festivities until 5:00am.

She stated that the extension is a reward for the people of Lahore, who celebrated Basant with discipline and responsibly followed all safety SOPs.
She urged citizens to continue celebrating in a safe manner, advising them to stay away from electricity wires, secure their rooftops and strictly follow all official instructions.
Calling it a historic occasion, Maryam Nawaz said that everyone should play their part in making this Basant joyful, safe and memorable for all.
It is worth noting that while several people were injured in different incidents during Basant celebrations in Lahore, a large number of citizens continued to observe safety protocols and refrained from using banned materials, including chemical kite strings.
