The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has decided to impose a fixed tax on beauty parlors and wedding halls.
As per the decision, beauty parlors and wedding halls will be divided into different categories based on business volume.
Director General of the KP Revenue Authority (KPRA), Mazamil Aslam, stated that wedding halls and beauty parlors will be categorized based on business volume. From the new financial year, only a fixed sales tax on services will be levied.
“Owners will be given the option of choosing between fixed and percentage rates of sales tax on services,” the spokesperson said.
It is worth mentioning here that the province is facing a severe financial crunch, as it has to repay more than Rs. 10,000 billion debts incurred by the provincial government in the last 10 years.
Over the past decade, PTI has been ruling the province without initiating any major projects. Consequently, KPK has been burdened with significant debts. Currently, the provincial government is struggling to pay salaries to government employees.
