Karachi residents across both upscale and low-income neighborhoods are facing severe water shortages during Eidul Adha, with many complaining of going weeks without regular supply as demand rises during the festival.

The disrupted supply has forced citizens to rely on expensive water tankers to meet household needs, sanitation requirements, and care for sacrificial animals.

Despite growing public frustration, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC) chief said the utility was taking all possible measures to ensure uninterrupted water supply during the Eid holidays.

However, KWSC Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Ali insisted the utility was maintaining normal water supply during Eid.

He blamed frequent power outages by K-Electric for damaging main lines and affecting distribution.

The KWSC chief said comprehensive arrangements had been made to ensure uninterrupted water supply and proper sewage management during the holidays, adding that executive engineers, staff, and machinery would remain available round the clock to handle emergencies.

Senior journalist Aslam Shah claimed in a report that, according to official documents, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab directed the launch of a free tanker […]
