Karachi bus strike

KARACHI: The Karachi Bus Owners Association have announced an indefinite strike starting from June 18.

According to reports, the decision was taken in response to a sharp increase in penalties imposed by traffic authorities on public transport vehicles. The Karachi based association argued that the ‘unjust’ enforcement measures have put them under heavy financial stress.

According to the group, bus owners can not operate under current conditions.

Karachi Bus Owners Association President Farooq Ahmed has urged all members to withdraw their vehicles from the roads starting June 18, saying the strike will continue until authorities address their concerns and agree to their demands.

If the strike goes ahead as planned, it is expected to severely impact thousands of daily commuters who depend on buses for travel across the city.
