LAHORE: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast a fresh spell of rain in Punjab from October 28, with temperatures expected to fall and colder conditions likely to prevail across several parts of the province.
According to the PMD, a new westerly weather system is likely to affect various parts of the country, bringing a change in weather conditions and increasing the intensity of the cold in Punjab and other upper regions.
The department reported heavy rainfall in Narowal, Shakargarh, Kartarpur, Nurkot and adjoining areas, where temperatures have dropped and the weather has turned noticeably colder. The chill has also intensified in parts of Punjab following a decline in temperatures across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The PMD said the effects of westerly winds were becoming evident across the country’s northern regions. Further rain and strong winds are expected in Islamabad and surrounding areas.
The department has also warned of the possibility of hailstorms at isolated locations. According to the forecast, scattered rainfall is likely in upper Punjab, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan, while some areas may also experience hailstorms.
However, most other parts of the country are expected to remain dry.
The PMD said rainfall and strong winds could lead to a further decline in temperatures in affected areas, resulting in colder weather in the coming days.
