LAHORE: Punjab’s Crime Control Department (CCD) has reported a 63% decline in overall crime across the province, along with an 81% reduction in house robbery incidents.

According to the department, highway dacoities, street robberies, motorcycle snatching and motorcycle theft have also decreased significantly.

Crime reportedly fell by 59% in Multan and by 58% in both Gujranwala and Bahawalpur. The figures also showed declines of 57% in Sheikhupura, 56% in Sargodha, 52% in Rawalpindi and 43% in Dera Ghazi Khan.

Highway Dacoities and Motorcycle Snatching Also Decline
The CCD report showed a 72% reduction in highway dacoities and a 71% decline in street robberies. Motorcycle snatching incidents reportedly fell by 67%, while motorcycle theft decreased by 56%.

CCD Credits Targeted Operations for Crime Reduction
The figures were presented at a meeting chaired by CCD chief Sohail Zafar Chatha. According to the department’s spokesperson, targeted operations and intelligence-based action against criminal elements contributed to the reported decline in crime.

The department said these operations aim to curb criminal activity, disrupt criminal groups and improve the protection of citizens and their property.

Comparison Period Requires Verification
According to information provided by the CCD, the figures are based on a comparison of crime levels in September 2023 and September 2025.

However, the exact comparison period and the methodology used to calculate the reported reductions should be verified against official records before publication.
