Karachi’s electricity consumers may soon see a significant reduction in their power bills as K-Electric (KE) has submitted a new petition to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), seeking a tariff reduction of Rs4.84 per unit.
The proposed adjustment comes after KE charged higher electricity rates in January 2025. As part of its monthly fuel charges adjustment (FCA) for January, the utility plans to refund approximately Rs4.84 billion to consumers.
NEPRA has scheduled a public hearing on March 20 to review KE’s request for a provisional negative FCA.
