Justice Mazahir Naqvi to take oath as SC judge on March 16

LAHORE: Justice Mazahir Ali Akbar Naqvi will take oath as Supreme Court’s top judge on Monday at a ceremony in the Supreme Court building.

Justice Mazahir Naqvi will fill the position that was left empty by the departure of the Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Asif Saeed Khosa.

Earlier, the Parliamentary Committee for Appointment of Judges had authorized elevation of Lahore High Court (LHC) judge Justice Mazahir Naqvi to the Supreme Court.

The parliamentary committee unanimously approved the Judicial Commission of Pakistan’s (JCP) proposal for Justice Mazahir Ali Naqvi and also admired his performance as an LHC judge.
