KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami has announced to hold protest demonstrations outside 50 police stations of Karachi on Sunday, against the worst law and order situation, particularly the rising streets crime in the metropolises.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi chief Hafiz Naeem –ur- Rehman, termed the law and order worst in the city and said that the provincial government had completely failed to control the lawlessness.
“People’s Party has hit the roads to conquer Pakistan while here dacoits are looting and killing people. A government which cannot control crimes, how can it run the country,” JI leader said, added that the police instead of fulfilling its duty giving patronage to corrupt elements.
“We will hold protests against the lawlessness at 50 police stations of the city on March 06,” he announced. He said that Crimes could not flourish without police patronage. In the next phase we will hold protests in front of the top officers of the police department,” Hafiz Naeem concluded.
It is to be mentioned here that for recording their protest over rising street crimes and deteriorating law and order situation in the city, All Karachi Tajir Ittehad (AKTI) on Wednesday also announced to stage a sit-in outside Chief Minister House next week.
Chairman AKTI Atiq Mir said the provincial government has failed to protect the lives and properties of the masses. Detailing the program of the sit-in, he said protest rallies from across the city, will observe a sit-in outside the Sindh Chief Minister’s House on March 8.
“The government should provide security to the business community of the port city as street crimes are on the rise,” he said and warned that the business community would not pay their taxes if a business-friendly atmosphere was not provided to them.
