KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan has agreed to remove Kamran Tessori from the post while changing its strategy for the appointment of Sindh Governor.
Sources aware of the development said that the MQM, which had earlier denied Kamran Tessori’s transfer, has now shown flexibility on the matter. Party sources said that Barrister Farogh Naseem has emerged as a strong candidate to replace Kamran Tessori for the post.
It may be mentioned here that the Pakistan People’s Party, the ruling party in Sindh, had demanded the removal of Kamran Tesori, accusing him of creating political divide and widening the gap between the urban and rural areas of the province.
Senator Waqar Mehdi, General Secretary of People’s Party Sindh, said that Kamran Tesori has not succeeded in bridging the gap between urban and rural areas.
In response, MQMP called Waqar Mehdi’s statement unnecessary and frivolous. MQM said that the People’s Party should address the growing sense of deprivation during its 15-year rule in Sindh. PPP has no right to comment on the performance of Governor Sindh.
Earlier it was reported that Justice Maqbool Baqir (R) is the strongest candidate to become the next Governor of Sindh. Maqbool Baqir, who has been the caretaker chief minister of Sindh, was considered the strongest candidate after the current governor of Sindh, Kamran Tessori.
