Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president Junaid Akbar has voiced his frustrations with the party leadership and threatened to quit the party’s parliamentary setup, announcing to sit in the parliament as an independent candidate.
Junaid Akbar, in a recently surfaced audio clip, can be heard expressing deep frustration with the party’s internal leadership and announcing his decision to leave the PTI parliamentary fold.
The audio, shared in the PTI parliamentary party’s WhatsApp group and later widely circulated, features Akbar declaring that his “patience has run out.” He said he would no longer recognize the party’s parliamentary leader or chief whip and announced his intention to sit as an independent opposition member.
Confirming the audio’s authenticity, Akbar said he had formally conveyed his decision to party colleagues and would write to the speaker of the assembly requesting a separate seat.
Akbar accused party leaders of repeatedly silencing him in the assembly, claiming decisions on who speaks in the House are controlled by a few individuals.
He criticized colleagues for blocking his attempts to speak during recent sessions and questioned the authority of the chief whip. He also faulted PTI lawmakers for failing to raise key issues, including terrorism and the absence of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
