Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei has released his first message to the nation after assuming office.
In his initial video address, he stated that the nation will follow in the footsteps of its martyrs and made it clear that resistance against the “brutal Western powers” will continue until the very last individual.
He urged the public to remain steadfast on the path of righteousness, assuring that divine support is with them, and emphasised that Iran will never break.
He affirmed that the Iranian nation will always remain resolute and adhere to its principles.
Iran’s killed supreme leader is replaced by one of his sons, Mojtaba Khamenei, a mid-ranking cleric who has until now wielded his power exclusively behind the scenes.
Iran’s Assembly of Experts — the clerical body tasked with selecting the country’s supreme leader — said on Sunday that a majority of its members voted to appoint Khamenei as the Islamic Republic’s third supreme leader since its founding in 1979.
