Increasing crimes in Pakistan

Sheeraz Sattar by Sheeraz Sattar
March 30, 2023

The recent report of the crimes committed in Islamabad over the past two years, presented by the Ministry of Interior in the National Assembly, is nothing short of alarming. With a total of 2412 reported crimes, including 310 murders, 504 attempted murders, 1500 abductions, and 103 cases of robbery, it is clear that the security situation in Pakistan needs urgent attention.

Furthermore, the report highlights the disturbing trend of child abuse, with 148 cases of child abuse and 96 boys and 52 girls being raped in Islamabad alone. These statistics are a clear indication that the issue of security should be at the top of the government’s agenda.

While the situation in Islamabad is particularly concerning, it is important to note that terrorism and attacks on police have been on the rise across the country. Terrorists have been targeting major cities such as Quetta, Peshawar, Karachi, and Islamabad, with devastating consequences.

It is also worth noting that the issue of security has become particularly acute in recent years, particularly during the tenure of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). The government must take a more proactive approach to addressing these security challenges and provide adequate resources to law enforcement agencies to ensure that they are equipped to deal with the rising threat of crime and terrorism.

While economic issues and political debates are undoubtedly important, the issue of security should take precedence. Citizens must feel safe in their own communities and be able to carry out their daily lives without fear of violence or crime. The government must prioritize the security situation and work to ensure that law and order are maintained across the country.

In conclusion, the government must take urgent action to address the rising crime and terrorism threat in Pakistan. The recent report of crimes committed in Islamabad is a wake-up call, and the government must act decisively to ensure the safety and security of its citizens.

The issue of security should be at the forefront of the government’s agenda, with the necessary resources and attention provided to law enforcement agencies to ensure that they are equipped to deal with the challenges at hand.
