KARACHI: Despite the many challenges and hurdles brought along by the ongoing pandemic, the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi graduating batch of 2020 upheld the institute’s impressive employability paradigm and kick-started their careers on a high note.

The Career Development Centre at the IBA recently launched the employment and placement statistics report for the Class of 2020. Almost 601 graduates of the Institute’s full-time degree programs participated in 2020 survey.

The survey revealed that over 80 percent of the graduates were employed immediately after their graduation in top tier organizations on impressive salary packages; whereas 5 percent chose to be self-employed and 4 percent went on to pursue further education.

With many industries available for job prospects, the in-demand Information Technology remained the top employability sector at 19 percent, followed by the banking and e-commerce sectors at 12% each.

Other than these three sectors, financial institutions (6.5 percent) and advertising and media (5 percent) too were among the top employment sectors.  The survey further highlighted that the average salary of undergraduate degree holders increased by 4 percent from 2019.

The IBA prepares its graduates for professional life, boosts their career prospects, and gives them a competitive advantage in the job market due to the extensive training in soft skills development and academic rigour.

With the launch of three new schools earlier this year, namely the School of Business Studies, the School of Social Sciences and Liberal Arts and the School of Mathematics and Computer Science, the IBA aims to further enhance its degree programs and streamline its curriculum to prepare the students for successful careers.
