The renowned Pakistani TV actress Faiza Hassan has expressed her ordeal about in her earlier days of acting in a recent TV show appearance.
The actress complained about the demands of the industry and how she became victim of body shaming due to her weight.
Speaking on the show on a private channel, Faiza Hassan said that she started in showbiz with small roles, including the video for Rahim Shah’s famous song Kabhi Payal Baje.
The actress said that she has faced repeated rejections throughout her career. There was even a time when she was told to get plastic surgery on her nose even though she was very thin. Still, people kept telling her to lose weight.
Speaking about the beauty standards in showbiz, she gave an example that it is just like marketing, like you buy soap from the market whose packaging looks very nice, but if it doesn’t look good after use, you don’t buy it again.
Acting is also like that. Beauty may get you work once, but time and again, only good performance brings opportunity.
She further said that she works in very few dramas as she doesn’t do many projects because she doesn’t have the ability to work so hard in the scorching heat and the drama may not be successful.
