HYDERABAD: Police in India’s Telangana state say they’ve solved the murder of four members of a single family, a case linked to debt, property and a personal grudge.
Indian media reports said the main suspect had looked up how to commit murder and avoid police online before the attack.
Officials say the accused was in financial trouble and owed money to the family. He allegedly demanded more cash and a transfer of property from his wife’s aunt, but she refused. Police claim he then planned to kill her, her husband, son and daughter.
On the morning of June 19, the man and his accomplices forced their way into the aunt’s house. They stabbed the woman first, then killed her husband, son and daughter with knives.
After the killings, the group fled with cash, gold and property documents. Police say the stolen gold was later pledged for 530,000 rupees.
Investigators have recovered 300,000 rupees in cash, gold, the murder weapon, bloodstained clothes, mobile phones and the vehicle used in the crime.
Four suspects have been arrested. Police are still searching for two others who are on the run.
