Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched the first-ever and unique “Aaghosh” program, under which mothers of children under the age of two and pregnant women will receive 23,000 rupees, as reported by national media on Tuesday.
According to a report, in the first phase of the Aaghosh program, aid will be provided to mothers of newborns and pregnant women in 13 districts, starting with Dera Ghazi Khan, Taunsa, Rajanpur, Layyah, Muzaffargarh, and Kot Addu. Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalnagar, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Khushab, and Lodhran are also included in the Aaghosh program.
Under the program, a pregnant woman will receive 2,000 rupees upon first registration at health centers/Maryam Health Clinics, and then aid will be provided for continuous medical check-ups until the child’s birth.
After free medical check-ups at health centers, the aid can be received from the “Aaghosh” program’s cash agents. Pregnant women will receive 1,500 rupees for each visit to the health center, and a total amount of 6,000 rupees will be provided.
At the health center, a gift of 4,000 rupees will be given upon the birth of the child.
Within 15 days of birth, 2,000 rupees will be given for the first medical check-up, and then 5,000 rupees will be provided upon registering the birth certificate at the health center. Afterward, for vaccinating the newborn, 4,000 rupees (i.e., 2,000 rupees for each vaccination) will be provided.
A special toll-free number has also been established for women’s guidance and information at the direction of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. Maryam Nawaz stated that people in backward and remote areas have a full right to public resources, and the government will fulfill its duty in this regard.
