The National Highways and Motorway Police has announced a ban on the entry of heavy traffic into Islamabad and Rawalpindi on August 13 and 14 in connection with Independence Day celebrations.
According to a Motorway Police spokesperson, the restriction will remain in effect from 12 midnight on August 13 until 12 midnight on August 14. Heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter the limits of Islamabad and Rawalpindi during this period.
The spokesperson said the measure aims to ensure smooth traffic flow in the twin cities during Independence Day celebrations and facilitate the movement of citizens.
The Motorway Police has urged citizens and transporters to plan their journeys according to the restriction timings and avoid bringing heavy vehicles towards the twin cities during the specified period.
Officials said a large number of people are expected to travel during the Independence Day celebrations. Special arrangements are therefore being made to reduce traffic congestion and maintain smooth traffic flow on the roads. Citizens have also been asked to follow traffic rules and cooperate with Motorway Police personnel.
Meanwhile, authorities have also decided to close several hiking trails in Islamabad on August 13 due to Independence Day.
According to a notification issued by the district administration, Trail 2, Trail 3, Trail 4 and Trail 5 will remain closed on August 13. The trail adjacent to Saidpur Village will also remain closed on Thursday.
